Beginners Pilates Lessons - Getting Started
New to Pilates? Let Us Walk You Through the Basics!
Quite simply – Pilates is exercise. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the mid 20th century, it is a method of conditioning that trains both body and mind. The equipment and movements work the deeper structural muscles (often referred to as the CORE). Joseph Pilates mantra was "In ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a new body".
The most frequently asked question about Pilates is “How do I Get Started?” Taking a Pilates class is not like taking an aerobics or spinning class – you can’t just jump in to the middle. In order to get the best results and to avoid injury, you really need to master the fundamentals before moving into more advanced Pilates, regardless of fitness level. Beginner's Pilates classes do more than just teach the basics, they truly help you develop a deeper understanding your own body and how your body moves.
Pilates is a non-impact, balanced system that works as well for the elite athlete as it does for the injured, or the uninitiated. It can produce results regardless of age or fitness level. Pilates is more than just a hot fitness trend -- it’s a tried and true method of exercise that delivers results for a lifetime of health and wellness! It is our specialty and our passion at Personal Best Pilates Studio.
